Major League Baseball® and Baby Ruth® are searching for the most talented performance of the popular baseball anthem “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” The search, which will be conducted through a contest sponsored by Baby Ruth, celebrates the song’s 100th anniversary and supports the League’s 2008 Opening Week initiative. One lucky winner will receive the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead the beloved song during the 7th Inning Stretch of the 2008 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium, the final season at the historic stadium.

Grand Prize Winner to Perform Historic Song at the 2008 All-Star Game…Fans can enter by submitting a video clip of their performance to http://www.MLB.com/babyruth. Videos can be submitted from March 31st through May 26th. In June, ten semi-finalists’ videos, selected by MLB and Baby Ruth, will be posted for fan voting online. The three videos with the most votes will go to 2008 DHL All-Star FanFest where a panel of judges will determine the grand prize winner. Restrictions apply, visit http://www.MLB.com/babyruth for official rules. In addition, all 30 Major League Clubs will host local celebrations for the 100th anniversary of this famous song.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2008

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2008The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers and its Regional Affiliates are reaching out to schools across the nation to identify America’s most accomplished teen artists and writers. More than 75,000 students will accept the challenge to present their best creative work for review by artistic and literary professionals. More than 30,000 teens will be recognized regionally and approximately 1,000 will go on to earn national awards.

Many of these young artists and writers will have their work exhibited, published, and presented to a national audience by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, and more than $1.5 million dollars in scholarships will be made available to high school seniors who receive national recognition. The Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design, a consortium of leading art and design colleges in the U.S., recognizes The Scholastic Art Awards program of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers as an appropriate and effective way for students interested in art and design to develop successful portfolios for college admission.

Urban Film Series 2008 Call for EntriesNext Generation Awareness Foundation (”NGAF”) seeks notable films and participants for its 2008 Urban Film Series programs. Urban Film Series is comprised of several highly-acclaimed film-related programs that enhance awareness and provide exposure of the arts, independent cinema, media, and the motion picture industry to under-served communities across America.

Or be a part of NGAF’s historic programs! Be a volunteer, speaker, vendor affiliate, sponsor, poet or author. Submit your film or your proposal to bring one of the Series to your area. Sign-up and get information so you can pass the word to all relevant sources, persons and organizations.

Students Launch “How to” Filmmaking Site

Portal FilmmakersAn advanced visual-effects class at Collins College launched a “how to” website on the steps they took to create their own independent film, Portal. The purpose of the website is to guide novice filmmakers through the entire process of making a movie. The website is www.mediafarm.tv/portal.

According to Michael Bostick, Collins College Visual Effects Instructor, “Collins provides students with a career-focused, hands-on education. Students were able to create an entire movie and then a website depicting the creative and technical process. It was a great class project.”

It’s the only international Food and Beverage Awards, recognizing creative excellence in the Media: Integrated Campaign, Digital Media, Print, Packaging Design, Press, Poster, Radio, TV/Cinema, Radio, Direct Marketing, and Sales Promotion.
